A beautiful, historical village set within the South Downs National Park. For a relatively small country village, Hurstpierpoint is bursting with life. Filled with period buildings and home to an array of quirky dog friendly cafes, pubs and restaurants. The whole village comes to life for the annual vintage fair, ran over several days and with a fun carnival spirit. An event not to be missed that dates back to 1775. With such a rich history and architectural beauty, Hurst is one of the more enviable villages in the county.
With plenty to keep your kids engaged, you and your family can experience the traditional farm animals, outdoor adventures and even have a play in the park.
A local nature reserve on the northern outskirts of Burgess Hill. The farm has woodland, wildflower meadows, wetland and ancient hedgerows.
Known as the ‘jewel in the crown’ when it comes to wild orchid spotting on the Devil’s Dyke Estate, this national trust site is definitely worth a visit.
THINGS TO DO
Comfortable, clean, spacious room in a good location in Hurstpierpoint. We stayed whilst visiting a friend’s party, so it really helped that this was in a bright, well-lit location that was easy to find in the dark. We had breakfast the next day at the bistro below and it was excellent.
"Lovely spot in the centre of the village. Only a few minutes from Hassocks Station (less than 1 hour from London Bridge) and easily connects to lovely walks into the South Downs. Thoroughly recommended for a country break. Delicious breakfast downstairs at Morley’s & enjoyed dinner at the Horse Inn (huge Gin menu & tasty tapas)."
"Lovely village location right on the green. stylish, clean and newly refurbished with plenty of wardrobe space. Very comfortable beds and nice linen . Lovely to have water, juice and porridge provided. The wine bar underneath is lovely for a few drinks"
